Children’s Theme Party Basics

Doing the same old boring parties for your kids can lead to some disappointed little guests. One good way to improve any children’s party is to apply a theme with theme party invitations. You can go seasonal, base it on your child’s favorite characters, a setting, anything you can imagine. Themed events and parties can also be used for just about any occasion, not just birthdays.

A theme serves as the “glue” that holds everything together at your party.  When selecting a theme first ask what your child would like – do they have a favorite character, sport, interest or dream that would make a fun party theme?  Here are a few basic ideas to get the old wheels turning:

Cooking Parties for Children

Cooking something kids love as part of your theme is a fun time for everyone. You want to make sure guests are old enough but if they are, they will enjoy cooking one of their favorite treats. Keep the age in mind when choosing a recipe as well. Older and younger kids usually like slightly different things.

Water Themes for Summer

Heat in the summer can make for one low energy party. By using water games, it is easy to get kids excited about playing. You also don’t need a pool to pull off a good water party. Slides, sprinklers, squirt guns and balloons are all great for water based fun.

These parties of course work best when they’re outside. Parks, backyards and other rented facilities can be great locations. Serve sugary snacks and let them go at it (you’ll be amazed at all the smiles).

The “Home Carnival” Party Theme

These parties can be held any time of year. In the fall and winter, games and decorations can be set up indoors. Just be sure that you have enough great prizes to offer to the winners of yuour games.
